I Ruined my Diet Over the Weekend: Get Back on Track with Food Network Star Katy Clark

I have always been an active girl, but never in a very active family. I ran and danced for most of my life, and eventually went to college on a running scholarship, but taught aerobics and did hip hop dancing for a major Fitness Brand. I remember baking “non fat” foods in high school and starting to lift weights in college. I always gravitated toward being healthy and active. Some of it had to do with family members that weren’t and not wanting to live that way, and because I just had so much energy to burn!I actually ended up with two very practical degrees from the University of California Irvine- Spanish and Sociology.
Yet it was while I studied abroad in Costa Rica for a year that I took a cooking class at a Baptist church and when I came back to Orange County I started cooking classes as the dishwasher while finishing my second degree at UCI. By the time I graduated I had already moved up to the cooking school kitchen coordinator and was running independently in 5K’s and winning. Then I had kids, and lived in China for six years. My love for hospitality grew and I opened my own cafe called The Silver Spoon.I moved back to My hometown of Long Beach CA two years ago and opened my own kids cooking buisness, called Look! I Can Cook. I also started competing in fitness and physique competitions. Then I auditioned for Food Network Star and made it! After the show I created Fit Chef Katy, and I love being able to encourage people to live fit and healhty lives!
