I’m not the only one from my family that decided to break away from Middle America and head west. My brother was actually the first one to follow his dreams and move to Palm Springs to pursue a career in professional golf. I guess there’s s just something that runs in our family that told us the sky is the limit.
Although my brother and I only live 2 hours away we probably only see each other 2, maybe 3 times a year if we’re lucky. Life, work, pursuing our passions, and the commute kept us out of touch. So finally after 7 months we finally were able to make time and meet each other half way for a dinner date.
Seeing my brother tonight reminded me just how important it is to keep in touch with family and childhood friends no matter how busy life may seem. This important reminder I think gets lost sometimes from the Heartland to Hollywood. Living in a city like Hollywood the days seem to fly by with the hustle and bustle of things. It’s easy to get caught up in career in a city that is so competitive.
No matter where you live, careers come and go, but the love and connection from family and true friends last a lifetime. Even if you don’t have a chance to see your loved ones in person, a phone call or Skype session are just a few buttons away.
