Growing up in Minnesota, I always wanted to move to Hollywood, but I never imagined that I would actually pack my bags and do it all on my own. Now as I sit at a small cafe overlooking peaceful waves in Bali I’m going through the exact same disbelief.
I arrived in Bali two days ago to embark on a 7 week course to get certified to teach yoga. In the Midwest, I was completely unfamiliar with the whole yoga phenomenon. After moving to Hollywood, I became curious after noticing yoga studios on almost every street. I decided to embark on this journey in Bali about 6 months ago and found myself getting involved with other commitments that may have ruined my chances of making this trip. I realized that this was all out of fear. I had never traveled alone to a foreign country and was warned that I would be completely out of my comfort zone. No hot water, no air conditioning,no whole foods, but plenty of bugs!
After arriving in Bali, I’ve realized that there is so much more to life and if we never face our fears or take chances we will miss out on amazing discoveries.
There are 23 of us undertaking this great experience. The majority of us attendees are all in a transitional phase of our lives, and about 80% have just quit their jobs. Change is scary, but we’re all willing to go there. I’m looking forward to finding out who and where I will be at the end of this adventure. If I can do it so can you!
My room for the next 4 weeks in Balian Beach then off to Ubud.
